The students from Kashmir Valley had witnessed a peaceful and progressive Ukraine the place they had gone to fulfil their dream of becoming a doctor. However, that dream was only until 23 February 2022, when Ukraine became like the home they had come from.
The embassy has requested Indians residing in Ukraine to keep them informed about the status of their presence in Ukraine. The advisory read, "In view of the current escalation of hostilities in Ukraine, Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to and within Ukraine."
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "I will request the Prime Minister to tell us what measures are being taken for the Ukraine-returned Indian students. The 17,000 students. What about their studies? Is it not the duty of the government to take full care of these students?"
