The son of the dead man, identified as Azgar Ali Babul, started the case with the port city s Double Mooring Police Station, said Assistant Commissioner (Double Mooring zone) Srima Chakma.
“Thirteen people, including Quader, have been named in the case. The detective police will investigate the case.”
At least 25 people were detained by the police following a clash between the supporters of Awami League-backed councillor candidate Nazrul Islam Bahadur and rebel candidate Abdul Quader in the city’s Mogoltuli Mogpukur Par area on Tuesday night.

A Chattogram court today placed 11 people including Abdul Quader, a councilor candidate in the upcoming city corporation elections, on a three-day remand over the death of a man during a pre-election violence yesterday.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order after police produced them before his court with a 10-day remand prayer, said Inspector Shahdat Hossain Khan of Detective Branch of CMP and also the investigation officer of the case.
Azgar Ali Babul (52), a supporter of Nazrul Islam Bahadur, Awami League-backed councilor candidate in ward-28 of CCC, was shot dead and another was injured in a clash between supporters of two ward councilor candidates in the port city s Mogoltuli Mogpukur Par area last night.
