Two persons burnt alive in road accident in East Godavari Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Two persons including driver were burnt alive due to electrocution after a car, in which five members of same family were travelling, hit an electric pole on the national highway at Mallisala village under Jaggampeta police limits in East Godavari district on Thursday. The duo was electrocuted after the power lines fell on the car due to collapse of the pole. The deceased have been identified as Veerni Hanumanthu Rao (56) of Visakhapatnam and Mattu Sateesh (41) of East Godavari district. The three persons who survived with minor injuries are Veerni Ramadevi, Mannem Bhanu and Mannem Adithya who sat on the back seat and escaped from the car after sensing the electrocution. ....

The injured have been identified as Boddu Nookaraju, Malli Yerrayya, Mugi Dhanayya and Dydupalli Suribabu. The boat is registered with the East Godavari district Fisheries Department. All the four belonged to Visakhapatnam district and were engaged in fishing from Kakinada Harbour. Nookaraju’s condition was said to be critical. All of them had been shifted to Government General Hospital in Kakinada, East Godavari SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi said. ....

Lakshmana Rao, was arrested on Monday for allegedly dismantling tridents of two idols of local deities at Sri Nookalamma Temple in Kakinada city in East Godavari district. According to an official release by East Godavari SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi, the accused resorted to the act in an inebriated condition on the night of January 10. Mr. Lakshmana Rao used to sleep on the temple campus whenever he was in the drunken state. He is native of Kondayyapalem area, where the temple is located. ....

In the endless battle to gain one-upmanship in the political affairs of the state by the principal opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and incumbent Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), the department is getting caught in the crossfire inadvertently.
