And newport, for most of the interwar period functioned just as much as a kind of lab for the navy. Also there was an aspect of a seminar you had highranking officers, already a highranking who went there. There was one case i had, i think there were several, where there was a rear admiral. This was a guy from the fleet, have a lot of experience with aircraft. He was a very senior person. I dont think he was alone. First, I’d like to say that
SOFREP has some extremely knowledgeable staff writers and some guys who are still, or have been, Grade-A savages. Most of the stuff I did while in the Marine Corps involved marching, traveling, and tuning. But on a parade deck. I was in the Parris Island Marine Band, and here’s my story.
