Vaccine is 'big weight off' for shielding West Yorkshire couple

A West Yorkshire couple who said they have stayed at home throughout the pandemic to make sure they were “100% safe” have described having the coronavirus vaccination as a “big weight off”.
Richard and Linda Poskitt received their vaccinations in Wakefield, at the first large-scale centre to open in West Yorkshire, on Tuesday morning and said it was a “great day”.
The couple said they both have underlying health conditions and have been shielding during the outbreak as they knew it would be “extremely serious” if they caught Covid-19.
After receiving his vaccination, Mr Poskitt, 77, said: “We’ve been waiting for months really because my wife is clinically vulnerable and been shielding for a long time last summer and then shielding again now and it is a stress. ....

West Yorkshire's first large-scale vaccination centre opens its doors to patients today

West Yorkshire's coronavirus vaccine supply will vary 'to ensure a fair spread across the country', top medic reveals

And the chief medical officer for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said officials still expected to get enough supplies to offer vaccinations to everyone in the top four priority groups by mid-February.
It comes amid conflicting reports about whether doses of the vaccine originally intended for Yorkshire, which has been one of the fastest regions to roll out the programme, were to be redirected to other parts of the country.
The Yorkshire Post understands that while West Yorkshire s overall allocation of vaccine will remain unchanged in the longer term, it will get a smaller supply in the short term while other areas are allowed to catch up. ....
