IDEX 2021: Dh5.6-billion deals awarded on Day 3 of exhibition in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi-based Yas Holding snares a Dh2.96-billion contract.
The UAE Armed Forces announced signing 12 deals worth Dh5.6 billion with local and international companies on the third day of the International Defence Exhibition (Idex) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX). The total value of deals signed till date now stands at Dh17.9 billion.
Staff Brigadier-General Mohammed Al Hassani, official spokesperson for Idex and Navdex, noted that both the local and international companies were awarded six deals each. Abu Dhabi-based Yas Holding grabbed the spotlight with a contract worth nearly Dh3 billion. ....

The first Philippine defence office in the Gulf has opened in Abu Dhabi, coinciding with the ongoing International Defence Exhibition and Naval Defence Exhibition this year.
Hjayceelyn M. Quintana, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, recently led the inaugural rites for the establishment of the Office of the Philippine Defence and Armed Forces Attaché (OPHILDAFA). Among those present at the opening was Defence Attache Col Cesar Fernandez, who assumed his post in December last year. ....

NAVDEX 2021: Ideas at Sea provides passive optical radar for UAE trial - Digital Battlespace


UAE is first country to test Generation II HeliSAR for maritime search operations.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is installing the Generation II HeliSAR passive optical radar from Ideas at Sea (IAS) on its National Search and Rescue Centre (NSRC) AW139 helicopter, with an initial trial to be completed in the coming months.
This makes the UAE the first country in the world to test the latest HeliSAR radar for maritime search operations, IAS announced on 23 February.
The HeliSAR day/night optical radar works by autonomously detecting, classifying and tracking small objects (such as boats) at sea, even in challenging sea states by day and at night. ....

Al Saadiyat (L72) was commissioned into service for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Navy on 22 February 2021 at the ADNEC Marina, Abu Dhabi, by Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Local media reported the Sheikh as noting that Emirati naval forces are undergoing an ‘accelerated .
