Chamber happenings: Summer youth work program worth checking out

The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development has just launched a new initiative, CTforMe.com, to showcase to young professionals why our state is a worthwhile place to live, work and play. The state recognizes that a highly skilled, media-savvy workforce – millennials – is key to the economic recovery of Connecticut.
What’s another way to play an active role in this recovery? If you are a business owner, I encourage you to join in on this initiative by taking part in a summer youth employment program that will help build this necessary workforce to keep our economy thriving. Through a partnership with the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, the Waterbury Regional Chamber is encouraging area employers to register as a summer worksite as part of the NRWIB’s summer youth program.
