Strong demand in Asia and logistical constraints have pushed international LNG prices to highs not seen in two years, RBN Energy said in a blog post, with the key Japan-Korea Marker (JKM) reaching $11.55/mn Btu for prompt contracts on December 28.
The higher prices, RBN analyst Sheetal Nasta wrote, are a reflection of strong winter demand, especially in northern Asia, and supply constraints dating back to last summer, when US cargo cancellations kept more than 600bn ft3 out of the global LNG market.
 
UK members of parliament approved the European Union withdrawal bill, just over 24 hours before the UK s transition period ends. From January 1, the former EU member state will be trading with its nearest partners on new terms and conditions. ....

Fortuna pipelaying vessel, the pipeline s operator told 
NGW on December 29.
Construction of the pipeline is understood to have resumed in early December, according to German maritime authorities.
Russian authorities have said they expect Nord Stream 2 up and running in early 2021.
 
The Tarim oilfield supplied 24.86bn m3 of natural gas to the West-East Gas Pipeline network between the start of the year and December 27, up 18% year/year, its state-run operator CNPC said on December 29.

The Tarim oilfield, one of China’s biggest upstream projects, saw its output reach 30mn metric tons of oil equivalent for the year to December 21, its state-owned operator CNPC said without offering a year-on-year comparison.
Overall Chinese gas production came to 170.2bn m3 in January through November, up 9.3% yr/yr, data published on December 15 by the National Bureau of Statistics showed.

Saudi Aramco s increased involvement in Russian energy projects is under active consideration, Russian deputy prime minister Alexander Novak said in a government statement published on December 20.
Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in investing in key Russian energy projects and companies in recent years, but no deals have been finalised.
Aramco had been eyeing a stake in Novatek s Arctic LNG-2 project but the pair failed to reach an agreement and the Russian company brought on board France s Total and Chinese and Japanese partners instead.

Sinopec’s Tianjin LNG terminal near Beijing has received a record 7.25mn metric tons of LNG in the year up to December 15, the company said on December 16.
Since its commissioning in February 2018, the terminal has received and unloaded 251 LNG vessels or 16.65mn metric tons of LNG. 
 
ExxonMobil and the Netherlands Royal Vopak have signed a memorandum of understanding on potentially building a LNG regasification terminal in South Africa, Vopak said on December 15.
