many states have multiple laws governing abortion on the books. in the world it is unclear which laws were infected with the even mean. take arizona, for example. it is unclear which law will take in effect there. two of the states top officials are indiscriminate about it. republican governor doug doocy says a recently passed 15-week abortion ban takes president. that would allow providers to offer some abortion care in the state. the attorney general, however, says that a 121 year old law banning all abortions is in effect. since the attorney general in forces the laws in the states clinics, they have decided that it s too risky to keep offering abortions. they have entirely stopped until everyone can get on the same page. arizona is one of the states highlighted in this darker red on the map. no abortions in those dark red states are being offered. the laws are clearer in some of these other nine states, but the reality of post roe america is equally grim everywhere. yes
millions of american women, no longer have the constitutional right to an abortion that has been their right for decades now and nearly half of all states women will soon find themselves without any access to an abortion, a 6-3 decision handed down in dobbs versus jackson women s health upholds mississippi s ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, in a 5-4 majority went further completely striking down roe versus wade, written by justice samuel alito, it is similar to the draft opinion that leaked back in may. it reads in part, roe was egregiously wrong from the start and the decision was exceptionally weak. and the decision has had damaging consequences. with this decision, 13 states have already effectively ended abortion access. missouri s governor issued an order ending all elective abortions one hour after the supreme court decision was released. another 13 states will impose draconian restrictions on abortion. a decision that s consequential is of course, nothing
as the crowd size swelled and tempered flared. police say demonstrators were refusing to follow orders to stay off the road and several tried to interfere when an arrest was made. and in oregon pepper spray was used to disperse dozens of people. ten were arrested. in rhode island a fight broke out among protesters. police say off duty an off duty officer and state senate candidate punched his political rival, jennifer rork. she says it happened as she attempted to deescalate the situation. we have reportered on the kr ground covering on the latest. let s go to the u.s. supreme court first. we ve been seeing crowds swelling. how does it look today, this sunday? reporter: that s right. we certainly have. we re in the shadow of the supreme court here as you can see there is a large and very vocal crowd behind me. it has been growing slowly all day. and this frankly is the scene that we have seen outside of the supreme court for the last three days since that ruling came
