Summit. Hello, everyone and welcome. I am the anchor of cnn newsroom weekend. Welcome to this closing plenary, reimagining the future. Schools have started in much of the nation and today of course we have had a full day of this valuable virtual summit, and so many questions remain. How should schools fully reopen . Who should remote learn . Who should teach Remote Learning . Is this the school year that is lost, and can kids really learn and benefit as best they can from such a variety of issues . And is the gap between the haves and havenots, is at widening . What needs to change right now to promote and protect the greatest potential for every child in every neighborhood in every Apartment Building in every shelter . Because times are that tough. We have good number of our kids now operating and living in shelters. We are going to try her best to tackle all of these q ....
Dom . It looks like well try that recovery trade from yesterdays late day selloff here. Stocks are broadly higher and to a decent degree. 250point gain for the dow about 1 upside. The s p 500 still very much above that 3,400 area. Thats an area that a lot of traders are looking at as a pattern of support there possibly for the markets up 1 , and the nasdaq, believe it or not, is underperforming, only up threequarters of 1 as well so the nasdaq a key focus there. If you take a look at some of the things that traders are watching from a more macro perspective. Interest rates, especially longer term ones are a very key focus here we dont show the 30year long bond very often. We focus on the tenyear more but that move to the upside has taken that 30year long bond beeld 1. 592 above its longer term trend line or the 200day average yield for that particular Interest Rate 1. 52 is the level to watch there. That could have reverberations o ....
Education arne duncan. We should not be in this situation. Other countries are not. We should not even be talking today. Lost,f thousands of lives the impact on millions of millions of children, education around the country, is extraordinary. It is tragic, there is no easy way to put it. Having said that, on the local level, unbelievable leadership empathy, compassion, urgency. Im talking about superintendents across the country trying to figure out Food Distribution, telehealth, social and Emotional Health during tough times, and yes, education. Horrific leadership at the top and amazing and Inspiring Leadership at the local level. So as a have four kids, parent i am feeling this, my kids are learning remotely as we speak. We are lucky we have access to technology. Still, even i am concerned. What are your bi ....
We are in a new phase. But i want to be clear. What were seeing today is different from march and april. This is extraordinary widespread, it is into the rural as equal urban areas and to everybody who lives in a rural area, you are not immune or protected from this virus. Dr. Deborah birx making kplen comments as the week hit the highest level since late may but the message to the nation may be too late for nancy pelosi who said over the weekend that she doesnt have confidence in birxs handling of the pandemic and doubled down on that claim this morning right here on cnn. I dont have any confidence in any who stands there and said swallow lie sol and it is going to cure your virus. I think she has enabled. Now birxs words are too late for Speaker Pelosi and too much truth for trump who jabbed at bench in the process, in order to counter nancy, deborah took the bait and hit us. It was just one in a series of tweet this is morning ....
Over it in the two hours ahead. President trump giving his first interview since he lost the election, and it is everything that you would expect. Full of lies, lashing out and loads of conspiracy theories. So back to the real world. Joe biden moves closer to takingover the reins of power. His first daily brief tomorrow since winning the election and his picks for his cabinet in the days ahead. Plus as schools struggle on the decision of Remote Learning every day, a new report from one School District highlighting the impact this may be having on students. I want to talk to former education secretary arnie duncan about that, ahead. We also have a collection of reporters covering news today. Lets start with carol lee who is at the white house for us. Carol, good to do see you this afternoon. Thanks for joining us on this. Wow, you get the distinct pleasure of talking about t ....
