Melvin Yong elected CASE president, succeeding Lim Biow Chuan

SINGAPORE: Member of Parliament (MP) Melvin Yong has been elected president of the Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE), the association said on Friday (Jun 11).
Mr Yong, who is MP for the Radin Mas Single Member Constituency, succeeds Mr Lim Biow Chuan, who had helmed CASE since 2012.

In a media release, CASE executive director Lee Siow Hwee said Mr Yong was elected at its 48th annual general meeting on Friday, where the new central committee was also elected or appointed into office.

SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat was on Wednesday (Apr 28) conferred the Medal of Honour during the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) May Day Awards held at Downtown East.
The top May Day Award is given to “special individuals who have rendered distinguished services to the labour movement”, NTUC said in a news release.

Mr Heng was also the guest-of-honour at the awards ceremony, which was held with more than 200 attendees comprising union leaders and tripartite partners over two sessions on the same day. The ceremony was streamed online via Zoom for awardees’ guests.

SINGAPORE, Feb 26 MRT train services on a section of the East-West Line were disrupted yesterday evening at around 10pm after a person was found dead at Kallang MRT Station.
In response to
TODAY’s queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that a person was pronounced dead at 5 Sims Avenue. It is the address of Kallang MRT Station.
The body was found on the east-bound track near the station, rail operator SMRT said. No other details are known about the person.
