Sad day here at the Hillsborough CountySheriffs Office. As you see behind me Fresh Flowers sit at the Law Enforcement memorial and as we walk over here, the last deputy to die in the line of duty was deputy mark longway, september 21, 2010, in an auto accident in downtown tampa. Deputy john kotfilas will be added to this memorial very soon. Crushed metal, broken glass. You can see the sheer impact of this deadly headon collision simply by taking a look at deputy kotfilas patrol car. Highspeed crash. It appears the deputy was trying to get out of the way. Deputy kotfila was after investigation. The two cars collided killing mcbeth instantly and forcing merge ever emergency crews to use the jaws of life to rescue deputy kotfila.
