The National Library of Australia maintains a collection of Vietnamese language materials consisting of publications from Vietnam and Australian publications in the Vietnamese language. It has over 4 000 volumes of monographs, and 200 serial titles, including 10 currently received newspaper titles.

The National Library houses the largest and most actively developing research resource on Asia in Australia, with holdings of over half a million volumes. The following is not intended to be a comprehensive coverage of Asian collections at the National Library of Australia. The aim is to provide an historical overview concentrating on areas and languages given a high priority by the Library, while also referring to other parts of the region. The Library has emphasised East Asia, namely China and its periphery, Japan and the Korean peninsula, and Southeast Asia, consisting of the ASEAN and Indochina countries as well as Burma. Thai collection
The collection covers all subject areas, and is especially strong in the fields of humanities and social sciences. Collection profile has always been focused on materials with research value/interest; having said that we have and been maintained a good range of popular publications for general interest as well.
There is an extensive collection of Thai cremation volumes (memorial biographical works published to mark a notable person’s death). The collection also holds three sets of Tripitaka, the principal Buddhist scriptures, in different versions. One of these was a gift from His Majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, of Thailand. The collection also consists of highly usedful research materials, such as statistical publications, for example Siam or Kingdom of Thailand Year Book, and Royal Thai Government Gazette.
