Apart from insurance firms, all branches of the banks dealing with government receipts and payments will also remain open for transactions on March 30 and March 31.
Irdai has asked the insurers to take note of the advisory and provide adequate publicity to the special arrangement being made to keep the branches open over the weekend
Both private and public banks in the country will remain closed on Friday on account of Good Friday across various states, except Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Shimla and Srinagar. However, the banks will function on Saturday and Sunday.
India's Reserve Bank, Insurance Regulatory Development Authority, and Income Tax Department have declared March 31 as a working day to facilitate timely financial transactions and tax obligations.
Banks open on March 31: As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) s instructions, the agency banks (handling government receipts and transactions) are required to remain open March 31, 2024 i.e. this Sunday. However, the question is if a bank customer can visit bank branch to do the normal bank work such as updation of mobile number, passbook update etc.
