The National Cherry Festival in Traverse City is going strong.
Tuesday was Industry Day at the fest, where the festival foundation recognized those who help make the Cherry industry go round.
There’s no lie in saying cherries are the heart and soul of what people do at the National Cherry Festival.
Every year, they take a second to honor the Cherry Industry Person of the Year. This year’s honoree is Dr. Gary Kaberle.
“I said what can I do to help and they said become part of the Cherry Festival, so I did. So that was what almost 50 years later,” said Kaberle.
