ISLAMABAD: The climate change ministry has finalised an ambitious roadmap to utilise forest cover measuring 5.5 million hectares to produce 70,000 metric ton honey annually in line with the “Billion Tree Honey” Initiative launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to the draft roadmap, a pilot testing of the programme would be initiated at selected sites during the upcoming spring and the requisite forest resource would be used by beekeepers to produce honey specific to particular flora that would be branded accordingly. “The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) shall train selected beekeepers along with technical support, follow-up of on-ground activities and product extraction,” it said. ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has formally launched Billion Tree Honey Initiative to promoting tree plantation and honey production in the country under Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme.
Addressing the launching ceremony in Islamabad today (Monday), he said the TBTTP will help control environmental degradation, including enhancing forest cover, cleaning rivers and protecting ground water from pollution, and checking air pollution. He said it is responsibility of his government to hand over a clean Pakistan to younger generations.
The Prime Minister said Billion Tree Honey Initiative will also help improve environment, enhance exports, and create job opportunities for the youth. He said this initiative will benefit the local population of areas, where these forests will be grown. ....

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan will participate in the Launch Ceremony of the Billion Tree Honey Initiative, a national apiculture program.
This initiative is part of the prime minister’s vision of a Clean & Green Pakistan.
It aims at promoting tree plantation to support the production of Honey in the Country under the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme (TBTTP).
Accordingly, the plantation of plants including Kao, Phulai, Ber, Kikar, and other bee flora is being encouraged under the TBTTP.
Meanwhile, an exclusive analysis was conducted of Honey Production in the Country to devise a mechanism for encouraging the promotion of bee flora improving the quality of honey production, providing livelihood to the beekeepers, and sustain the activity through the provision of financial resources. ....

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday launched “Billion Tree Honey” initiative hoping that marketing of 70,000 metric tons of honey will generate an income between Rs35-43 billion and generate around 87,000 green jobs.
The premier participated in the launching ceremony of the Billion Tree Honey initiative in Islamabad, which is a part of his vision Clean and Green Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the Billion Tree Honey Initiative on Monday to promote tree plantation and production of honey for achieving the bigger objective of increasing exports and addressing unemployment.
Addressing the launching ceremony, Khan said the honey-making drive was inaugurated to benefit the local community who will get jobs in the process of honey production and its export.
Pakistan is the fifth most vulnerable country to climate change in the world, and it is a big challenge for the government to address this issue, he said, adding that the forest cover in the country is vanishing quickly, and restoring forests and planting more trees is one of the main preferences of his government to protect the future of coming generations. ....
