Oregon veterans celebrate 4th at revolutionary war veteran’s grave

OREGON, Wis. A group of veterans, their families, and community members gathered at a cemetery in Oregon to honor veterans this fourth of July.
Event Organizer Ben Hobbins said they chose Prairie Mound Cemetery because it hosts the grave of Wisconsin’s last surviving revolutionary war veteran Nathaniel Ames.”
The cemetery here has dozens of American veterans who are buried here and interned here so it all made sense,” he added.
Attendees were treated to a reading of the Declaration of Independence, excerpts from the Jefferson papers, and other historical documents. Organizers also planted a liberty tree for all veterans, not just those who served in the revolutionary war. ....
