Lower Merion High School senior Brian Yi captured the PIAA District 1 3A singles tournament title April 20 at the Springfield YMCA, defeating Conestoga's Ethan Sun in the championship finals, 6-3, 6-0.
The PIAA District 1 3A boys tennis singles tournament at the Springfield YMCA Friday was a happy experience for Unionville junior Matt Miller and Conestoga freshman Ethan Sun. Both players advanced to Saturday’s semifinal round, and in doing so, each clinched a berth in the upcoming PIAA 3A state singles tournament.
Battling through an ankle injury suffered Friday, West Chester East junior Ben Gao won both of his playback matches Saturday at the District 1 3A boys tennis singles tournament at the Springfield YMCA to finish in fifth place, clinching the final berth in the upcoming PIAA 3A state singles tournament.
