Le Judo-Club de Casteljaloux a été fondé en avril 1964 par Francis Cabourdin. Michel Duranthon, ceinture noire 1er Dan, fut le premier professeur. Le président d’honneur était JoseiphTurroques, alors maire de Casteljaloux.
Au départ, le club de judo de Casteljaloux s’adresse uniquement à des jeunes. À l’initiative d’André Rat s’ouvre une section initiation judo adultes dont Michel Laffitte sera l’élève avant d’assurer la formation des enfants et des adultes, dès 1966, date à laquelle le club s’installe dans un nouveau dojo. À cette époque, Bernard Sudre qui fut le premier Français vainqueur de la Coupe d’Europe
