A photograph that captured a Swampscott police officer and toddler performing crossing-guard duty on Friday has gone viral locally on social networks. 
Swampscott Police Officer Kevin Reen has forged a special friendship with Nate and Daniela Fontes-Fried’s three-year-old son, Ethan, since the local patrolman recently began an occasional crossing-guard duty at a Stanley Elementary School crosswalk.
“We started covering crossing-guard duties because a few guards resigned,” said Reen on Sunday evening. 
The Fontes-Fried family and their dog, Calvin, live in the stand-alone, single-family home directly in front of Stanley School. ....
