larry: good evening. samantha geimer is kind enough to join us about a case that s more than 30 years old but still manages to make news and with us exclusively tonight. larry silver is her attorney. he is also aboard. it caused a sensation coming to light all those years ago. roman polanski, the acclaimed director, fresh off a triumph with chinatown had been the tragic deathly scene of sharon tate. murdered by members of the manson family in 1969. and here is what brought us to today. watch. in march of 1977, roman polanski was arrested for raping then 13-year-old samantha geimer at the home of jack nicholson and accused of drugging her. in a deal with the state, the director agreed to plead guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse or statutory rape. he spent 42 days in prison as part of a psychiatric evaluation ordered by the court. the day before he was scheduled to be sentenced he fled to france where he is protected from extra diction. that was in february of 19 ....
