When it comes to happiness, things are not as great.
The U.S. ranked 18
th this year in the annual World Happiness Report, behind Finland, Denmark and Switzerland, which finished 1, 2 and 3, as well as nations that included New Zealand (8), Canada (10) and Costa Rica (15).
Not bad when you consider the World Health Organization ranked 153 countries. Worse: The rankings were released before the coronavirus pandemic began to wreak havoc in March.
âThe happiest countries donât have as much, but they value family and they value connection and they value helping one another,â said Natalie Hoerner, who has become somewhat of an expert on the subject while learning new ways to count her blessings. âDown the road, I hope this pandemic helps us to see what s really important, that we can reinvent things, change the way we live and still be OK.â
