It is ice fishing derby time and there are a number of such events held locally each winter. The derbies differ; some have entry fees and prizes, and some are for fun. Perhaps the longest running derby would be the Mahar Fish ’n’ Game Club Ice Fishing.

Last Saturday, the Mahar Fish ’N Game Club was finally able to have, in a 2020 COVID-19 style, the annual Game Supper. Instead of in a full cafeteria in March, the food was was handed out, with all COVID protocols of masks and social distancing, to ticket-holders who drove to the school Saturday.
