ATHOL – At the urging of Athol Congregational Church, the town’s Selectboard has officially declared 2023 to be The Year of Kindness in Athol. An event inaugurating the year-long initiative was held on Tuesday, Jan. 3, in Memorial Hall at Town.
It is ice fishing derby time and there are a number of such events held locally each winter. The derbies differ; some have entry fees and prizes, and some are for fun. Perhaps the longest running derby would be the Mahar Fish ’n’ Game Club Ice Fishing.
