Nashoba Tech to provide career training with state grant Community Content Nashoba Valley Technical High School is one of eight schools that recently received a Career Technical Initiative grant from Gov. Charlie Baker’s Workforce Skills Cabinet. The grants totaled $1.3 million, with Nashoba Tech receiving $100,000. Nashoba Tech plans on using the money to provide training and placement services to prepare unemployed and underemployed adults for positions as automotive technicians and plumbers through the school’s career technical institute. According to Jobee O’Sullivan, director of postsecondary, continuing and community education for Nashoba Tech, the school will be able to provide free training for those who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. ....
Chelmsford residents take part in production of “Urinetown” Community Content Nashoba Valley Technical High School’s theatre guild recently announced that its members filmed the play “Urinetown: The Musical” and will be offering it online via streaming from March 13-14; with Chelmsford residents Rebecca Loureiro, Sarah Wilson and Adam Kubasti taking part in the movie. According to Emily Smith, Nashoba Tech’s theatre arts instructor, “Urinetown” is about, “a big organization that’s in charge of regulating water consumption.” “This company has a monopoly on toilets and people have to pay to use public toilets,” said Smith. “It’s a dark comedy.” ....
Chelmsford student named presidential scholar Community Content Nicholas Giannino, of Chelmsford, was recently selected for the presidential scholars program at Nashoba Valley Technical High School. As a student at Parker Middle School in Chelmsford, Giannino had learned that Nashoba Valley Technical High School was adding a Veterinary Assisting program to its technical curriculum. “I grew up wanting to work with animals and be a veterinarian,” said Giannino. “So I figured I might as well see what it was all about.” Now a senior at Nashoba Tech, Giannino is one of five students in the state to be selected for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s presidential scholars program for career and technical education. ....

Nashoba Tech receives grant for dog-training program Community Content The Veterinary Assisting program at Nashoba Valley Technical High School recently received a grant from the Westford Education Foundation, which the school will use in the spring to provide an outdoor area for students to learn the skill of dog training. The Veterinary Assisting program received the Innovative Grant from the foundation, and Kate Hawkins, one of the program’s instructors, said without it, “the training area would not be possible.” The area, which is adjacent to a small building on the campus that once served as the dance and art studio, will be 45 feet by 90 feet and the studio will be converted to be part of the training area. ....
