Dr Akshata Krishnamurthy is the first Indian citizen to operate the Mars Perseverance rover and currently works for NASA as the mission science phase lead for the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar.
NASA launched its Spirit rover to Mars 20 years ago as part of a pair of rovers sent to the red planet, which helped provide important information about the planet, including past evidence of water on Mars.
The Perseverance reaches another milestone as it surpasses its minimum operation estimate. The Perseverance Mars rover has been traveling around the Red Planet since February of 2021.
