Uganda's Minister car is reported to have been shot 56 times

The assailants who tried to assassinate outgoing Ugandan Works minister Katumba Wamala on Tuesday fired up to 56 bullets at the army car carrying the four-star general, sources close to the investigations said.
Brenda Nantongo, the generalâs daughter, who recently returned from studies in the United States, died on the spot after a bullet hit her on the neck.
One of the official drivers, Haruna Kayondo, was shot in the chest and also died at the scene, according to police sources briefed on the investigations.
A family source told this newspaper that Kayondo was supposed to be off-duty this week, and possibly not die, but reported after his colleague sought permission to be away to attend to an indisposed relative. ....

Forensic experts secure the scene outside the home of Ugandan minister of works and transport General Katumba Wamala.
The daughter of Ugandan government minister General Edward Katumba Wamala has been killed in a drive-by attack targeting the general outside his home in Kampala on Tuesday, Ugandan police said in a statement.
Police said the Minister of Works and Transport was leaving the residence in the upmarket Kampala suburb of Kisasi when unknown assailants on motorcycles opened fire.
The general, his 26-year-old daughter Brenda Nantogo, his bodyguard and his driver Haruna Kayondo were traveling in a military registered car when the attack unfolded, the police said. ....
