Pharmacist dies after falling 250 feet from overlook at Tallulah Gorge State Park in Georgia


A woman died after plummeting 250 feet from an overlook at a Georgia state park.   
Nancy Moore Smith, 58, of Blue Ridge, was visiting the Tullulah Gorge State Park on Thursday when she fell off Overlook 2, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR). 
Game wardens and paramedics from two counties responded to the scene and found Smith s body at the bottom of the gorge. 
The incident is still under investigation and officials have not yet determined whether it was an accident or a potential suicide. 
Unconfirmed reports claimed witnesses saw Smith climbing over the railing and talking to a park ranger moments before she fell.  ....

A WOMAN has died after plummeting 250 feet from an overlook at a popular state park in Georgia.
Witnesses said Nancy Moore Smith, 58, was speaking to a ranger just before she fell to her death at Tallulah Gorge State Park on Thursday.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has identified the woman who died Thursday afternoon in a fall at Tallulah Gorge State Park as 58-year-old Nancy Moore Smith, of Blue Ridge.
According to eyewitnesses, Smith had crossed over the railing at Overlook 2 and was talking with a Park Ranger when she jumped. Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly after noon. ....

Emergency crews recover hiker's body

    TALLULAH FALLS, Georgia (WGCL) Emergency responders worked to recover the body of a woman who fell or jumped from a ledge at a north Georgia state park.
According to Habersham Emergency Services officials, a hiker fell or jumped from a ledge at the Tallulah Gorge on Thursday around 12 p.m.
A spokesperson said Habersham and Rabun County personnel rappelled down to rescue the victim, who fell at least 200 feet.
“This will be a long process and crews will be on scene for an extended period of time”, the spokesperson said.
Officials identified the victim as 58-year-old Nancy Moore Smith of Blue Ridge, but no other information has been released at this time. ....
