A center in Roseville that assists people with Down syndrome has been vandalized about a week after its opening, police confirmed Sunday.The Roseville Police Department said it received a report for broken windows and graffiti at Gigi s Playhouse Sacramento. This is both heartbreaking and unacceptable, and we are working with the police and local authorities to help bring the perpetrators to justice, Nancy Gianni, founder of Gigi s Playhouse said in a statement to KCRA 3. People with Down syndrome face lifelong discrimination and are often targeted for the disability that is written on their face. This act of hate speech was, quite literally, written on the images of local Sacramento-area children. The organization provides free therapeutic and educational programs that advance academic and motor skills for both adults and children.
