Ashland Chautauqua
Ashland Chautauqua’s traditional five-day event, featuring evening first-person performances and daytime workshops, is back after the 2020 preparations fell victim to pandemic restrictions. The 2020 theme, “In Times of War,” was carried forward to 2021. The in-person performances will be held July 13-17 at 8 p.m. with opening acts at 7 p.m. at the Guy C. Myers Memorial Band Shell in Ashland’s Brookside Park. They will be:
July 13: John Anderson as Ernest Hemingway, American journalist and author. Opening act will be Mike Gorrell.
July 14: Karen Vuranch as Gertrude Bell, archaeologist, writer and political leader. Roger & Robin will be the opening act.

Annual May Show
One hundred thirty six Ohio artists submitted 399 pieces of art for the Annual May Show, which runs now through June 6, at the Mansfield Art Center, 700 Marion Ave. The diversity of the show is reflected in the wide range of styles and mediums used to create complex and amazing pieces of which 134 are 2D wall pieces and 44 are 3D pedestal pieces. Mansfield Art Center hours are Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed on Monday.
