Among 800 professional officers and soldiers deployed on UN peacekeeping missions were two engineering unit teams to Abyei, five teams of Level 2 Field Hospital personnel serving on the South Sudan mission, and 114 individual officers.
Recently, Việt Nam handed decisions to sent another three officers to UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), and UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), raising the total number of Vietnamese peacekeepers deployed to UN missions to nearly 800.
The two sides agreed to strengthen such cooperation through the exchange of delegations and expertise, training and technical support, as well as coordination in organising relevant conferences, workshops and forums.
To mark the Year of the Dragon 2024, Engineering Unit Rotation 2 has built detailed plans on each activity like making “chưng” cakes – a signature dish of Tết, holding room decoration and cooking competitions, planting the “nêu” pole – another symbol of Tết, and organising folk games.
