Both the parties are claiming that they have done developmental work for the community, which accounts for about 40% of the voters in the constituency. While the BJP bagged the reserved seat in the 2019 general election, the AITC had won the seat in 2014. The constituency was originally a Left bastion, having been won by the All India Forward Bloc between 1962 and 2009.
"In the last few days, there have been reports of differences between the old and new members of the party. I want to emphasize that the Trinamool Congress is united under the leadership of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“We have seen what happened in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. We dont want our country to turn to Ukraine, Gaza or any other troubled zones. Modi hyay to mumkin hyi. (Modi is there, it is possible),” Adhikari said.
