Nearly 1.8M residents in C. Luzon receive ePhilIDs last month

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - Almost 1.8 million residents in Central Luzon have received their ePhilIDs or the electronic printable version of the Philippine Identification System ID, commonly known as the national ID as of January this year. In a statement on Monday, the Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services 3 (PSA-RSSO3) said a total of 1,771,572 ePhilIDs were issued to registered persons last month, exceeding by 7.3 percent the region's first quarter target of 1,651,500. Arlene Divino, regional director of the PSA-RSSO3, said this achievement is the result of combined efforts and strategies of the PSA provincial offices registration team including house-to-house visits and coordination with schools, private institutions and local government units. She assured the registrants that the ePhilID will be recognized and accepted by both government and public establishments. 53 barangays drug-free, 157 cleared in Negros Oriental: PDEA

PDEA Negros Oriental provincial director Elmer Ebona (PNA photo by Mary Judaline Partlow DUMAGUETE CITY - A total of 210 out of the 557 barangays in Negros Oriental province have been classified either as drug-free or cleared of the illegal drugs problem, an official of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Monday. PDEA-Negros Oriental provincial director Elmer Ebona told the Philippine News Agency that of the total, 53 barangays fall under the "drug-free" classification while the 157 others are "drug-cleared". "This is based on consolidated data from both the PDEA and the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) as of Dec. 31, 2022, and this is a positive accomplishment over the past two years considering the challenges we faced during the Covid-19 pandemic with many restrictions," Ebona said. PBBM OKs promotion of 10 PH Coast Guard officials

MANILA - President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has promoted at least 10 Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officials, Malacanang confirmed Wednesday. The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) released the names of PCG officials who have been promoted to the ranks of Vice Admiral and Rear Admiral. Based on the list, Rear Admirals Joseph Coyme, Robert Patrimonio and Ronnie Gil Gavan now hold the rank of Vice Admiral, the second highest among PCG commissioned officers. Coyme currently serves as the commander of the PCG's Maritime Safety Services Command, while Patrimonio heads the Marine Environmental Protection Command, according to the organizational chart posted on the commission's official website. Gavan, on the other hand, is the PCG's Deputy Commandant for Administration.
