Im Erin Burnett In Israel alongside My Friend John Berman in new york. The head of the Israeli Defense forces told his commanders tonight that, quote, well enter the gaza strip. Not a question. A definitive statement. A spokesperson for the idf saying they are increasing airstres to gaza to minimize risk to troops for the next stage of the war. Theyve been running on some days at more than 200 strikes and theyll increase that number. They saw dozens of tanks, personnel, carriers, as well as bulldozers massed at the border. And weve seen those bulldozers, massive military ones designed for an urban incursion they will be facing. This video represents just one of several grouping thats our team witnessed. Altogether, cnn saw hundreds of tanks and Armored Vehicles. This comes as the World Health Organization warns that the limited amount of supplies allowed to cross into gaza from egypt today is not enough. It was about 20 trucks. northwest of mexico beach. it still has 150 mile-per-hour winds. of course those winds embasxtenr and wide. look at this, you can see the incredible amount of wind and rain that s right on that western side of the eye. normally the east side of the storm is what we call the dirtier side, but this storm is incredibly symmetrical call and the strongest winds and heaviest rains are right there on the west side actually, has crossed through panama city. so john berman s location should start to improve rapidly as we go through the next couple of minutes or so, which i know he ll be relieved to hear that. 175 mile-per-hour gusts right now. we have a tornado watch until 5 p.m. for this area. we also have a high wind warning, which is basically a long-term tornado warning.
we re seeing our first pictures of destruction and we ll show you in just a second at mexico beach, florida to my east. i want to show you a pretty gnarly picture. if you ll pan this way, the sky is this dark color. it s been slowly moving. it s almost as if the blue sky wants to peek out but it s this ominous, bizarre, slow-moving grey clouds. i m sure jennifer gray can explain. before we talk to her, though, i want to show you we re just now starting to get some pictures in from mexico beach, which is not only east of me, it s east of where we ve been watching john berman and dianne gallagher and panama city beach. we re starting to see some of the damage firsthand. roll it.
power outages. i think that is going to be the next chapter of this story, focus at fsu, you think of all those beautiful live oak trees. i know the school itself was actually allowing people who live off campus, faculty, staff as well to be in those beautiful brick buildings to hunker down through this thing. berman, for you and dianne in panama city beach, i think it s going to be power outages, thousands of trees down and dealing with that in the coming days. reporter: we heard a transformer explosion not far from where we were, a loud boom and then up syou saw the lights flicker off. it could be days before power gets back on here. the storm made landfall east of where i am two miles an hour short of a category five. it s going to take time.
of the damage where you are yet? reporter: so, brooke, we have not been able to walk around much beyond where we are due to the fact that these winds are still coming and these pretty strong gusts that we have here. the easiest way to show you how strong it was is to take a look at this metal fence that we have right here that was behind us. throughout the entire day this fence was serving as kind of a barrier for a downward sloping hill that then goes into some water. the winds completely uprooted this fence, pushed it over. it also pulled a lot of things down, drain pipes, awnings, things like that around here in panama city beach. my friend john berman, who has been out here braving this with me as well, he found one of these. it s pretty heavy. it was a life up in the portico area of a hotel.
