NEW ULM Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School (MVLHS) senior Jonah Kramer of Gibbon is a finalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition (NMSC). NMSC serves to recognize high school seniors for their academic achievements. In February, some 15,000 semifinalists, including Kramer, were notified that they have advanced to finalist standing.
According to the NMSC website, all winners of Merit Scholarship awards are chosen from the finalist group based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments. NMSC evaluates the finalist’s academic record, information about the school’s curriculum and grading system, PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score, the high school official’s written recommendation, information about the student’s activities and leadership and the finalist’s essay. ....
