Coronavirus: Peshawar admin imposes lockdown in some localities

PESHAWAR: The district administration Peshawar on recommendations of the provincial health department put certain localities in the city under lockdown to prevent further transmission of the coronavirus.
“To control the spread of Covid-19, and upon recommendations of office of the District Health Officer, Peshawar, and in exercise of the powers conferred under Sections 8 and 21 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the undersigned is pleased to order ‘controlled entry and exit’ of localities in Peshawar,” the district administration said in an official notification issued here Sunday.
The localities that would remain under lockdown are: Street No. 02, Sector-P-II, Phase-IV, Hayatabad, Street No. 04, Shami Road, Peshawar Cantonment, Street No. 10, Sector-E-VI, Phase-VII, Hayatabad and Street No, 05, Muslimabad, Kakshal, and University Town. ....

A smart lockdown has been imposed in four neighbourhoods of Peshawar because of the rising coronavirus cases. According to a notification issued by the deputy commissioner of the city, the sealed areas include Hayatabad s Phase IV, Peshawar Cantt s Shami Road, Phase VII in Hayatabad, and University Town s Muslimabad. All hospitals and medical stores in these areas will remain open throughout the day. Congregational prayers inside mosques have been restricted to five people. Five injured in Haripur road accidents - Newspaper


HARIPUR: At least five persons were injured, three of them critically, in two road accidents in Khanpur tehsil here on Saturday.
The police and rescue sources said a jeep on its way to Khanpur from Muslimabad area plunged into a gorge near the Beesbun village, injuring three passengers, including the driver.
They were shifted to the Khanpur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. The injured were identified as Mehrban, Haqnawaz and Raja Ansar.
The second accident was reported on Khanpur-Taxila Road when a recklessly-driven motorcycle collided with a rickshaw near Tofkiyan village. Malik Arsalan, the bike rider, and Tahir, a passenger from the rickshaw, were injured. ....

A medical camp, offering free healthcare services, at the Sindh government hospital in Rehri Goth, pronounced the lack of basic facilities available to residents in the area.
Decrying a lack of healthcare facilities, a resident, Younis Khaskheli, questioned, “Why should there be the need for a non-governmental organisation (NGO)- Greenstar Social Marketing (GSM) in this case - to set up a medical camp here?”
Then, answering his own question, he spat, “Because this hospital doesn’t function properly. This is a dispensary, not a hospital!” ....
