MSL gears up for Ramadan with The Unknown Fallen


On April 19, LMU’s Muslim Student Life (MSL) hosted The Unknown Fallen—a panel featuring Belgian author Luc Ferrier sharing stories of Muslim soldiers who fought for Europe in World War I—in collaboration with Campus Ministry and Ethnic and Intercultural Services. The panel was held in honor of Ramadan in order to acknowledge the sacrifice and contribution made by over two million Muslim soldiers who died fighting for Europe. The panel lasted for 90 minutes and was easily accessible as it did not require attendees to RSVP, and the Zoom link and password were available on LEO.
In an interview held three days after the event, Kienan Taweil, the program coordinator for Muslim Student Life, answered questions about the story behind The Unknown Fallen, challenges of hosting MSL activities virtually, the significance of Ramadan and gave his personal opinions on Ramadan.
