The Supreme Court’s Director of Information, Dr Festus Akande, has described as a rumour the claim that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Tanko Muhammad, had tested positive for COVID-19.
Akande stated this in a statement which he issued after a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, disclosed at an event in Abuja on Tuesday that the CJN had tested positive for the dreaded disease.
The apex court’s spokesperson had earlier in his first statement on the state of health of the CJN, on Tuesday, denied reports that the head of the Nigerian judiciary was critically sick.

There is confusion over the health status of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad.
Whereas the Supreme Court, in a statement that was signed by its Director of Press and Information, Dr Akande Festus, debunked report that there is anxiety over the CJN’s health, a Justice of the Court, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, reportedly confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19.
Justice Saulawa who was said to have made the disclosure during the unveiling ceremony of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria, MULAN, in Abuja on Tuesday, further revealed that the CJN is currently receiving treatment in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

A member of the Supreme Court, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa made this known at the inauguration of the national headquarters of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) in Abuja, on Tuesday.
Justice Muhammad is said to be receiving treatment in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
The CJN was absent at the swearing-in of 72 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria on Monday.
Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour was the one who administered oaths to the new SANs in his stead.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
The online legal newspaper, Nigeria lawyer, reported that the CJN’s health status was made known at the national headquarters of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) on Tuesday by a justice of the Supreme Court, Ibrahim Saulawa, in Abuja.
It was reported that Mr Muhammad was confirmed positive in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he is said to be receiving treatment.
