Maxwell cited for ‘dirty’ cell
Prison guards say Ghislaine Maxwell has failed to clean her cell, saying that it began to smell and became “increasingly dirty”. Staff at the Brooklyn jail told prosecutors that the former socialite “frequently did not flush her toilet after using it which caused the cell to smell”. Maxwell is awaiting trial on charges that she helped Jeffrey Epstein and enabled him to sexually abuse minors. She has pleaded not guilty.

Islamophobia probe accused of whitewash
An inquiry into Islamophobia in the Conservative party has been accused of ignoring individuals who wanted to submit damning evidence. Baroness Warsi, who was Britain’s first female Muslim Cabinet minister, collated a series of cases to submit to the inquiry but says at least eight complainants received no contact from the panel. The independent probe is set to report next month. ....

An inquiry into the Tory party s handling of Islamophobia complaints has been accused of ignoring individuals who wanted to submit damning evidence, sparking fears of a whitewash.
The independent probe, commissioned by Boris Johnson in December 2019 to look into the party s treatment of anti-Muslim and other discrimination allegations, is set to report in May, an inquiry spokesman confirmed. ....

NHS pay: Tories could rue Lord Bethell's sneers on nurses' pay, says Andrew Pierce


Labour’s pledge to put No 10’s planned 1 per cent pay rise for nurses at the heart of its local election campaign could mean that one well-heeled minister’s nonchalant dismissal of the nurses’ case will come back to haunt the Government.
‘There are many people in this country who look upon professional jobs in the NHS with some envy,’ Health Minister Lord Bethell said last week. 
‘Nurses are well paid for the job. They have a secure job and they have other benefits.’
Is Bethell, a hereditary peer, the right man to talk about nurses’ pay? He lives with his venture capitalist wife Melissa Wong in a four-storey house in Notting Hill, which cost £6.3 million in 2011, but has since doubled in value. What’s more, they have a swish holiday home in Majorca. ....
