Wilton Historical Society Announces May Day Vintage Tea Cup Workshop for Kids on May 1 Written by Nick Foster May Day Vintage Tea Cup Workshop for Kids on Saturday, May 1 from 11-12:30 pm at Wilton Historical Society May Day celebrates the onset of spring and dates back to Roman times as a festival of flowers. Maypoles were tied with colorful ribbons and children danced around them. Traditionally, people would make small baskets of flowers and treats and leave as a surprise for neighbors or loved ones on their door. On Saturday May 1 from 11:00 – 12:30 the Wilton Historical Society will be offering a May Day Workshop for Kids. Guided by Museum Educator Katherine Karlik, the kids will tuck a small flowering plant into a vintage tea cup, and will make a small floral picture on burlap using their fingerprints to create the image as well. Either of these projects will make a heartfelt gift, perhaps for Mother’s Day. Suggested for ages 6 – 12.
