Weekend street closures for Riverfest

This weekend will not see all the typical Riverfest events, but there will still be some street closures because of the River Run.
Closures will start at 5:30 Friday afternoon, with more closures happening overnight. The largest closure will be McLean, between Lincoln and Meridian, with other closures along the route. Closed streets should be reopened by 2 p.m. Saturday. The full list of street closures can be found below.
Friday, June 4, 5:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
Waterman between McLean & Wichita St.
S. Wichita St between Waterman & W. Dewey St.
Saturday, June 5, 12 a.m. to 2 p.m. ....

Sedgwick County Wants To Turn Your Old Christmas Tree Into Mulch


Sedgwick County is reminding residents that they can still recycle their used Christmas trees.
The county’s Environmental Resources Department has set up 22 recycling sites across Wichita and Sedgwick County. The sites will remain open until Jan. 24.
The trees will be ground into mulch. Residents can take mulch from any of the sites for free.
Recycling the trees also keeps them out of the county landfill.
People should remove ornaments. lights and other decorations from the trees before recycling them.
