One of the most important Tartessian enclaves in the world was built between the 8th and 6th centuries BC on what is still an undeveloped, elevated piece of land in the center of Huelva, in Spain’s southern region of Andalusia, between the streets of Fray Junípero Serra and San Sebastián. The first excavations were carried out there between the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in the discovery of dozens of tombs filled with trousseaus of gold, silver and jewels, an ancient hearse, ceramics and even an Egyptian ivory chest featuring four figurines. The items were of such value that they subsequently went on display in some of the world’s most renowned museums, including New York’s Metropolitan. ....

.-The Botín Centre, in collaboration with the Musée national Picasso-Paris and with the inestimable support of the Picasso family, presents the exhibition “Picasso Ibero”, which can be enjoyed in Santander from 1 May to 12 September 2021.
Curated by Cécile Godefroy, with Roberto Ontañón Peredo as associate curator, the exhibition’s scientific committee is made up of leading international experts on Iberian art: Teresa Chapa Brunet, Hélène Le Meaux, Alicia Rodero Riaza and Rubí Sanz Gamo, coordinated by Pierre Rouillard. “Picasso Ibero”, the first major exhibition on the influence of the art of the Iberians on the work of Picasso, comprises over 200 pieces from different collections. There are works of Iberian art from museums, including 41 pieces from the Museo Arqueológico Nacional in Madrid and others from the museums of Jaén, Albacet ....

The first monographic exhibition on Marinus van Reymerswale opens in Madrid

.- The aim of this exhibition, which is benefiting from the sponsorship of Mitsubishi Corporation and the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado, is to introduce visitors to Marinus van Reymerswale, a Netherlandish artist who worked in the first half of the 16th century. As the exhibition’s curator Christine Seidel has explained: “Following their restoration, the paintings have returned to life with renewed splendour. New technical research, undertaken by the Museo Nacional del Prado, has contributed important information on the conditions and methods of production of his paintings in the emerging art market in Antwerp and in the context of the material culture of his day”. ....
