House Bill 2593 by Rep.
Joe Moody, D-El Paso, which would lessen the penalty for possessing
THC concentrates (like vape pens) from a state jail felony to a
class B misdemeanor, passed the House by a wide margin on April 28 and awaits action in the Senate. Another penalty reduction,
HB 441, did the same two days later; that
B-to-C

Albemarle County announced today that the 2021 annual reassessment process is complete. On Jan. 29, notices will be mailed to taxpayers and the 2021 assessment data will also be available online that evening through the county’s GIS-Web.
The county’s total tax base increased by 1.4 percent over the 2020 year-end tax base due to the reassessment. The 2021 residential assessment changes are generally the result of appreciation in the housing market. ....

On a sunny day last week in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Kevin Sundholm picked up a small handful of marble-sized pellets of iron ore from the ground.

“Those pellets would go through there and they would get baked,” he said, gesturing at the abandoned foundations of the former Groveland Mine complex near Felch, in Dickinson County.
“You can see the remnants up on top of the silos there,” Sundholm said.
