Traevon Chalifoux-Desjarlais would have benefited from having an Indigenous person or elder as part of his care team, according to his mental health worker.
A worker at the B.C. group home where Traevon Desjarlais was found dead in his closet days after he went missing told a coroner s inquest he checked the teen s room repeatedly – but there was no sign of him.
The group home employee who reported Traevon Chalifoux-Desjarlais missing testified that he searched the teen's bedroom but couldn't recall if he ever looked in the closet where his body was eventually found.
"I noticed on these pieces of paper there [were] notes written. I can't recall the exact wording, but to me . it seemed like a goodbye note," Abbotsford Police Const. Christian Drabosenig testified at the inquest into the Cree teen's death.
