Gauteng MEC for health, Nomathemba Mokgethi, has tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Gauteng provincial government said Mokgethi was currently in isolation with mild symptoms and everyone who was in contact with her has been advised to isolate and get tested.
Mokgethi was vaccinated for Covid-19 back in February.
“The health MEC was one of the first people to receive the Johnson & Johnson [J&J] vaccine under the Sisonke Programme in Gauteng. The Covid-19 vaccine prevents severe illness, hospitalisation and death.

CAPE TOWN - SA’s Covid-19 vaccine rollout kicked off early on Monday as Health Minister Zweli Mkhize visited Munsieville Care-For-The-Aged in Krugersdorp for the Phases 1B and 2 of the vaccination rollout programme.
Mkhize, was accompanied by Gauteng Premier David Makhura and health MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi.
Orlando Pirates Chairman Irvin Khoza and High Court Judge Chris Nicholson were among the senior citizens who were vaccinated at the centre on Monday.

On Monday morning, the country opened 87 vaccination sites. The number is expected to increase to 200 by the end of the week.
People aged 60 and above are receiving the two-dose Pfizer vaccine. After vaccination, they are placed in a waiting area for about 20 minutes where they are monitored for side effects.

ORLANDO Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza was among those who were first in line to get the vaccine in Munsieville, Krugersdorp.
This as gogos and madalas braved the morning chill at Munsieville Care for the Aged to get their first jabs of the Pfizer vaccines.
The Iron Duke told reporters: “In my business, the platform that I manage, I am paid to promote products. But today I am not paid for the products.
“For the country to come back to normalcy, we must vaccinate. It’s very important coming here to inspire everybody who does business on our platform and everybody in the country that it is normal to vaccinate.
