Ramazan begins in K-P with rest of country Moon sighting committee meeting held in Peshawar after 18 years PHOTO: ONLINE PESHAWAR: First Ramzan was observed in Peshawar and much of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Wednesday like the rest of the country in what should be called a rare occasion. This doesn’t happen so often as K-P has its own moon-sighting ‘mechanism’ in place under Mufti Shahabudin Popalzai. Indeed in the past 11 years only on five occasions K-P celebrated Ramazan and Eid together with the rest of the country and in six cases it was a day ahead both in Ramazan as well as Eid. This is a divide which, if not impossible, is very difficult to bridge.
