Roaming the hallways of some of these apartment complexes. and that s why setting this hard perimeter at the time they did was so vitally important. and so that is the question right now. do they have him located in an area and they re talking to him? i know they re talking to his mother at this point. they re trying to get information fromler exactly about his qungs, what may have been going on in his life. there are several dozen other people who were inside that building who were terrified about exactly what was going on. they were calling 911. and then you have the massive police response from all the agencies in the metro atlanta area to try to make sure this block midtown area was sort of cordoned off and shut down. you have all that happening and at the same time you have these s.w.a.t. units setting up that soft perimeter as well so if they find out the location of this man they can move in if they have to. not sure if he has more ammunition. did he come prepared for this? so m ....

Obviously might be the key in trying to calm this man down. they also have aerial support in the area to see if the man tries to leave some of these buildings. very active scene in the middle of this building, obviously in the middle of the afternoon. people desperately calling 911 because when the shots started firing people started running and the all call came out as an active shooter. all right, ryan, if you can stand by for us, ryan young is there for us in midtown atlanta as all of this is developing. and i want to bring in our josh campbell as we are talking about what is really a developing story there in atlanta. josh, we ve just been monitoring these pictures coming in to us from the scene. you heard ryan s report there. we actually saw some atlanta police, some marshals, some troopers who appeared to be staging. and then here just about a couple minutes ago they sort of proceeded forward toward it appears this building that you hear ryan describing authorities are going to ....

Any message to the public and she said she s asking for people to shelter in place and avoid the area. they basically squared off an area in midtown, closed it off to the public. we re also getting alerts from the atlanta public school who are sending out alerts to have people lock down as well. so students are on lockdown in and around the area as are, as we ve been reporting, several businesses in lockdown as well. still very much so an active situation that is deadly. at least one person killed, four people shot altogether in this incident so far. and that s the update that we can report as a result of this preliminary investigation, details they just put out, jim. so at this point three at the hospital, a fourth as you mentioned there, jim, as we just learned from the atlanta police department, deceased at the scene. officers are not only looking for the suspect, also according to what they re posting on social media looking for any other victims. right? because this is a large b ....

Resolution operation, they are there on the scene and in place. what we don t know obviously is what is happening inside that building. now, if there s gunfire you re not going to see what you see here, and that is many, many officers that are staging. but at some point if they re involved in these clearing operations it becomes a point of diminishing returns. if you have dozens and dozens of officers jammed into hallways obviously that s going to make it difficult to methodically go through and clear in a safe way. we. and right now because we haven t received the all clear that they re likely going through that multistory building. all the officers that arrived scene before these officers-d we re talking about many, many different agencies but you see all the officers standing by and ready and we have to see whether or not they ultimately decide this person has been located or if they need to fan out, if this becomes a larger search operation they will have what appears to be over 10 ....

Mother from what i m being told by a source. during that visit something happened, the man became enraged and he started shooting inside that medical office. we ve been told at least three people have been shot. i m not sure their condition right now. but i do know some of the people who were shot are in grave condition. at that point an alert put out. apd swarmed this area. they activated their s.w.a.t. team. the man is on the run. they do know his identity. they have pictures that are circulating among the command staff of what this man looks like. they believe there s a building they re focused on right now to see if he went into the building. there are several large structures in this area. so it s going to make it very difficult for them to sort of go through the garages, go through the lobbies, go floor by floor to find out who this man is. they have a very accurate description of him. in fact, i believe his forth is going to be talking to police in the next few minutes because s ....
