KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19: Digital ecosystem development, connectivity between ASEAN countries and cyber security are among the issues that will be highlighted at the first ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting on Thursday, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.
He said ASEAN had the potential to be a competitive regional digital economic bloc on par with other economic blocs.
“ASEAN countries have the technology, talent and innovation, so what the governments of ASEAN countries need to develop is their digital ecosystem.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19: The inaugural ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN1) begins today with the Senior Officials’ Meeting (ADGSOM1).
Held virtually, ADGSOM1 will be headed by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek.
The meeting is expected to begin with the opening remarks by Phavanhna Douangboupha of Lao PDR, the outgoing Chair.
Among the agenda to be discussed during the two-day meeting are ASEAN ICT Fund (AICTF), ASEAN Digital Master Plan 2025 (ADM 2025), the implementation of the 2020 work cycle activities and their deliverables, and report of the first ASEAN Cybersecurity Coordinating Committee meeting.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 (Bernama): The inaugural Asean Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN1) will start on Monday with the Senior Officials Meeting (ADGSOM1), laying the groundwork for reshaping Asean’s post-Covid-19 digital landscape.
The virtual meeting from Jan 18-22, hosted by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry from the Kuala Lumpur Hilton, is expected to adopt the Asean Digital Masterplan 2025 (ADM2025).
ADGSOM1, to be headed by the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek, will also see virtual meetings with dialogue partners - the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, India and the European Union (EU) - and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Women, Family & Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun has tested positive for Covid-19.
According to her office, Rina received the result of the test on Sunday night (10 January) after undergoing screening at the Putrajaya Klinik Kesihatan earlier the same day. She has been admitted into Hospital Sungai Buloh at 11 am today (11 January).
The minister apologises if this incident has caused any inconvenience and anxiety to ask and pray to God that all matters are facilitated for all involved.
