Police were attacked with missiles and a car was set on fire during more unrest in Belfast on Friday night the eighth consecutive night of strife in the city.
PSNI officers urged the public to avoid Tiger Bay, a loyalist area in north Belfast, after reports of disorder.
Some officers came under attack, with missiles such as stones and bottles thrown at them and reports of petrol bombs being used.
PSNI Chief Superintendent Muir Clarke said: We would appeal for calm in the area and ask anyone who has any influence in communities, please use that influence to ensure young people do not get caught up in criminality and that they are kept safe and away from harm tonight. ....

Police have been attacked with missiles and a car was set on fire as small pockets of unrest flared again in Northern Ireland.
PSNI officers have attended the scene at Tiger’s Bay, a loyalist area in north Belfast with riot vans and police dogs in tow.
Some officers have come under attack, with missiles such as stones and bottles thrown at them, and reports of petrol bombs being used.
There is a heavy police presence in the area, with reports that stones were also thrown at police in the nearby, nationalist area New Lodge.

Fears that violence in Northern Ireland could continue over weekend


Leaders in Northern Ireland are fearful the chaos that has plagued the region in recent days will continue into the weekend.
Loyalists have urged their communities to desist from protest activity as a mark of respect for the Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away on Friday.
Despite this, there were small pockets of unrest continued in parts of the province last night.

The Irish taoiseach Micheál Martin has said that political leaders must not allow Northern Ireland to “spiral back to that dark place of sectarian murders and political discord” after the region was marred by another night of disorder.
On the anniversary of the Good Friday agreement 23 years ago, the taoiseach said there was “a particular onus on those of us who currently hold the responsibility of political leadership to step forward and play our part and ensure that this cannot happen”. ....
