Air crash: Buhari declares Monday work-free day for armed forces

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that the national flag be flown at half-mast for three days in honour of late Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 others who died in an air crash on Friday.
He also approved Monday as a work-free day for members of the Armed Forces.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
He said the national flag will fly half-mast from Monday to Wednesday.
The statement titled, ‘National flag to fly at half-mast in honour of late Chief of Army Staff and others that have paid the supreme price’ read, “His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria has authorised that the national flag should be flown at half-mast in all public buildings, facilities and official residences with effect from Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th May, 2021. ....

Buhari seeks NASS approval to raise N2.343trn to finance 2021 Budget deficit

The Senate on Tuesday received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari to raise the sum of N2,343,387,942,848 from multilateral and bilateral lenders, as well as the International Capital Market (ICM) through the issuance of Eurobonds. 
The amount which is equivalent to USD$6, 183,081,643.40 at the Budget Exchange Rate of USD$1/N379, is captured as New External Borrowing in the 2021 Appropriation Act (Item No.330), and meant to part-finance this year’s Budget Deficit of N5.602 trillion. 
The request was contained in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and read during plenary. 
According to the President, the request was made in line with the provisions of Sections 21(1) and 27(1) of the Debt Management Office (Establishment) Act, 2003. ....

Buhari's son-in-law declared wanted by ICPC over N26.5bn Fraud

President Muhammadu Buhari’s son-in-law, Mallam Gimba Yau Kumo, has been declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)  over an alleged N26.5 billion ($65 million fraud.)
Kumo is married to Fatima, one of the daughters of the president from his first marriage. They got married in 2016 when Buhari had become president.
Kumo who is from Gombe State was declared wanted alongside Tarry Rufus and another man Bola Ogunsola.
The declaration was made known in a statement on Thursday, by Azuka Ogugua, spokesperson of the anti-graft commission who  asked anyone who had information on the whereabouts of the trio to report to the ICPC headquarters or the nearest police station. ....
